Dream Spa Medical - Brown Spot Treatments

Hello Fall Friends!

As the temperatures turn cooler, so do our skin tones. Gone are the sun-kissed cheeks and bronzed bodies of summer. All that is left are the brown spots. Whether your sun exposure was unintentional or I-don't-care-what-the-pros-say-because-I-like-a-tan purposeful, the residual effects are the same. Accelerated aging and hyperpigmentation.

Maybe you call it age spots, sun spots or freckles. Maybe it reads as uneven tone, mottled, blotchy or dirty looking skin. Maybe an analysis presents photo-damage, melasma or post-inflammatory pigmentation. Whatever it is, most of us are familiar with this cosmetic complaint on some level. What you may not be familiar with are the many treatments that can correct these pigment changes.

The medical terminology is secondary to the problem. We understand the damage this can do to your self esteem, as well as your overall sense of skin health, which is why so many of us tan to begin with. Almost all my bronzed beauties claim to feel and look better with some color. Dream Spa Medical is here to make you feel and look better with your natural skin tone. That means getting rid of the discoloration and visible sun damage.

We are familiar with the various reactions caused by sun exposure and we can offer education and correction to these concerns. Perhaps the solution is as simple as tweaking your home care products, or peeling away the pigment? Maybe it requires spot treatments or overall skin toning therapies? You'll never know until you talk to someone who does.

Book a consultation and review the possibilities with Dream Spa Medical today!

Lipstick & Love to you all.

What is Sugar Doing to your Skin?

Joseph Coupal - Monday, February 10, 2014

By: Mary Kelley

Everyone knows that sugar can be harmful to your waist line but did you know that sugar can also damage your skin? This article from Skin Inc. explains how an overabundance of sugar in the body can lead to sugar molecules and protein molecules combining in a process called cross-linking. The new sugar proteins are called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs). Our bodies do not recognize AGEs and will send antibodies to fight them. This results in inflammation and because AGEs gravitate towards the collagen and elastin in our skin, our faces are adversely affected by the inflammation.

What can you do to fight the signs of aging due to glycation? Use products specifically designed to fight damage caused by AGEs such as our product of the month, A.G.E Interrupter by Skinceuticals. This product combines blueberry extract (a powerful antioxidant), phytosphingosine (an anti-bacterial lipid that has anti-inflammatory properties), and Proxylane (a patented anti-aging ingredient that increases skin density and firmness while stimulating collagen).

A.G.E Interrupter should be used morning and night, after cleansing and before adding moisturizer. Perfect for dry and sensitive skin, this anti-aging treatment is a powerful way to fight the signs of early aging due to glycation.
