Firm, Fill, Finish… - Brookline MA

Diana Brouillard - Tuesday, October 20, 2015
By Jennifer Sullivan, Dream Spa Medical

When the Ultherapy team came to Dream Spa Medical this week, guru Patti said something that I thought really captured our mission with regards to anti-aging "Firm, fill, finish, in that order." From Botox and Voluma (fill) to Hydrafacials (finish) we have the all of the very best; the "firm" is Ultherapy.

Ultherapy is the only non-invasive procedure FDA-cleared and proven to lift the skin on your face, under your chin and on your décolletage; firming, lifting and improving lines and wrinkles from brow area down to your chest without ever going under the knife! You see, Ultherapy delivers focused ultrasound technology to the same foundational layer typically addressed by surgeons during cosmetic surgery without cutting or slicing. This energy initiates the body's natural response to stimulate the growth of fresh, new collagen and strengthen weak collagen. You will feel the tightening effects immediately but the real results will appear over the next 6 months. As new collagen builds, your skin is gradually lifted, tightened and smoothed.

What this means for you, is now you can have the same lifting effects of surgery with NO DOWNTIME. You leave our offices ready to face the world; you can go to work, home to your family or out for dinner and nobody will be the wiser. Don't get me wrong, you will look immediately refreshed and people will probably tell you so but only you will know what's developing under the surface…literally. So forget the fear of surgery and the associated pain and healing, the fear of looking like you've "had work done" because this treatment blends seamlessly into your everyday life. You come in and lay back and relax as one of our medical estheticians carefully administers your Ultherapy treatment. Once the treatment is complete, you leave feeling an immediate lift but the real fun begins as you watch your skin become smoother, tighter and firmer over the next few weeks. Also, Ultherapy has lasting results; only one treatment is needed to enjoy several years of the amazing effects it has on your face and chest.

At Dream Spa Medical, we have been offering Ultherapy with spectacular results since we began and the more we see and learn, the more passionate we become about getting the word out. We know how to customize your Ultherapy treatment so it is tailor-fit to your needs and it is a lot of fun when you and your medical esthetician follow-up your Ultherapy treatment to review progress because the results are that awesome! Our client's satisfaction is the wind beneath our wings and we are beyond excited for you to experience the truly life-changing effects of Ultherapy, the"firm".

Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy - Brookline, MA

Microneedling: The Natural Stimulation of Skin Repair and Youth

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling or Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is a new innovation in aesthetic medicine for treating the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne scars.  It also addresses skin texture, pigment, stretch marks, under eye dark circles, pore size, thinning hair and overall anti-aging concerns.

An FDA approved medical grade device is used to create controlled micro-injuries to the skin in order to naturally produce collagen and elastin.  The procedure also creates superficial micro-channels which can be used with topical gels and serums.

PRP or "The Vampire Facial"

If combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), obtained by drawing your blood and extracting the nutrient rich platelets, the effects of rejuvenation are enhanced exponentially.  The microneedling treatment with PRP causes a release of at least 8 essential natural growth factors from your own body.  This causes a natural and healthy production of new collagen and elastin which is what creates that youthful appearance.  This is also known as a Liquid Facelift or The Vampire Facial.  PRP has been used for years to heal wounds and for other purposes. Today, PRP therapies are also available for facial rejuvenation and other areas of aesthetic medicine.

Is it Safe?

Microneedling is safe and rarely contraindicated. There is no down time, minimal to no discomfort and treatments are highly effective. Whether you have tried it all or are new to esthetic treatments, Microneedling has a place in everyone's quest for a more youthful appearance. Unlike many laser treatments, it is safe to do during the summer. Book you appointment today!

Lash extension are perfect for the summer - Brookline, MA

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, July 30, 2014

By: Mary Kelley

Lash extension are a great accessory year-round but perfect for the summer. Lash extensions are different from false eyelashes purchased in a retail store. Instead of being a long strip of lashes, extensions are individual synthetic lashes that are applied to individual lashes on the upper lash line. When properly maintained, lash extensions are a great way to add a little, or a lot of, glamour to your look.

The first session—called a full set—lasts about an hour and a half. I go over the DOs and DON’Ts for extensions and how to care for the lashes. The treatment itself is very simple and relaxing. I apply an under eye treatment patch over the lower lashes to protect them and have my client keep her eyes closed throughout the treatment. After that, maintenance visits—called fills—take about 45 minutes and should be scheduled every two or three weeks. You can still wear eye makeup, just skip mascara on your upper lashes.

Here are some DOs and DON’Ts to help maintain your lash extensions:

DO:

  • Come in for fills every two or three weeks.
  • Schedule an appointment if you want your lash extensions removed. Trying to remove them yourself can result in damage to your natural lashes.

DON’T:

  • Use oil-based products. This will weaken the adhesive and cause the extensions to fall off.
  • Use mascara on your top lashes. The extensions will add length, volume, and color to your top lashes. You can use mascara on your bottom lashes. You can still use shadow and liner as usual as long as the products are oil free.
  • Rub or pick at your extensions. You will damage your natural lashes, as well as shorten the life of your extensions.
  • Spend too much time in steam or under hot water. This will loosen the extensions.

With a little bit of TLC, you can enjoy wonderful lashes all year round. Call Dream Spa Medical today for your free consultation.

Tips For Summertime Facials - Brookline, MA

Joseph Coupal - Monday, July 21, 2014

One of the most important things to remember when getting a facial is that the treatment is not one-size-fits-all. In the summertime, our skin is often very different than it is throughout the rest of the year.

Before you book your facial, call the spa and tell them your skin concerns and ask if they offer treatments that can address those issues. Make sure the esthetician personalizes the products to your skin type and methods to your personal preference. For example, those with sensitive skin might want to avoid the type of treatments that those with oily skin might receive.

Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, acne-prone skin, sensitive skin or a combination of all the above, a good skincare therapist should perform a customized service that is best suited to your particular condition.

Believe it or not, despite the fact that we sweat all summer, the more simple the facial the better. When you think about it, this makes sense. The fewer ingredients there are in a product the less likely you are to experience a negative reaction. This,p is especially important for pregnant women.

You should also change the products and type of facial you receive depending on the season. In the summer, there is plenty of moisture in the air, while the winter is much drier and harsher on skin, especially on your face – the treatments used during your facial should reflect that.

If you can afford the time, monthly facials – or at least seasonal – ensures the best results for your skin. Regular monthly facials are needed to properly exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells to unclog the pores.

To set up your facial, or for more information, contact Dream Spa Medical.
